To be a Game Official, a person must be at least age 13 by the designated date prior to the upcoming season. Officials must provide a current Data Sheet, take a written test prior to each season and pass the test with at least an 80% score, and attend one of the Officials Clinics conducted for each sport.
Scorekeepers and timers for Volleyball and Basketball do not need to take tests, but must provide a Data Sheet, attend a Scorekeeper’s Clinic, and be at least 12 years old prior to the start of the upcoming season.
All officials (umpire, referee, scorekeeper etc.) must join the Catholic Youth Council Sports Officials Association to be eligible to officiate during the sports season.

Who must join the CYC Sport Officials Association?
Anyone that is paid to work a game. Umpire, referee, scorekeeper etc.
What is the cost to join?
$5 per year. You are a member from August first, of a calander year to August first.
This is your fee if you work one game or every game in every sport. If you join anytime after August 1, you are a member until the next August 1st.
You must register again the next year.
